I know I have thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine we have had in Texoma! It has been marvelous, but I am ready for fall with pumpkin, cider, and cinnamon flavors floating around all the stores and my house while watching the falling leaves.
For the first week of September, this week has actually been decent. Temperature remain about 5° warmer than normal, but that is not keeping anyone from enjoying this weather!
I mentioned this in an earlier post, but the first day of Meteorological Fall was September 1st with the Autumnal Equinox on September 23rd. Fall is close to being in full swing for everyone!
Today, more sunshine is headed to Texoma with temperatures staying in the low to mid 90s. Winds out of the south continue to bring in moisture into the area allowing dew points to climb.
With clear skies and few clouds today (much like the past couple of days), the UV index is still something to keep an eye on. An index of 9-10 is very high and means one could burn outside in 15-20 minutes. Be sure to put on sunscreen and take care of yourself outside.
Rain is still desperately needed, but unfortunately that does not show up in the forecast until next week. At least it is in the 7 day forecast and not outside it anymore!
The next few days should remain rain-free allowing for a FANTASTIC Texoma Labor Day weekend!
A cold front is headed to Texoma next week, bringing cloud coverage and some much needed rain. The rain chances look to increase about mid-week with the greatest chance of rain being AFTER Wednesday.
A new Drought Monitor should be issued later today, so be keeping an eye out for another post on here or on my KTEN Facebook a little bit later today. Link can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Meteorologist-Megan-McClellan-KTEN-News/513687845308000
